LunaPix Q&A

LunaPix screenshot

Q. Can I add my own pictures to the 3 LunaPix playgrounds?

A. Yes! Simply place your .jpg files in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\KPixGames\LunaPix\Packs\Playgrounds

They will be selected randomly, along with the picture (.pjt) files that are already there, for you to 'light up' when you play in any of the 3 LunaPix playgrounds - Moonbeams, Starlight, and Reflection.

Q. How can I change the 'look' of my LunaPix puzzles?

A. There are LOTS of different things that you can do to customize your LunaPix puzzles. All of the different possibilities are available to you through the Look&Feel menu on your puzzle taskbar.

The first thing to do is to select a puzzle to play. Once you have selected a puzzle, find the Look&Feel menu on the left hand side of the taskbar at the top of your screen. Click on it to reveal all the different display options.

Choose from 8 different 'skins' (image sets), including Castles, Cats, Elephants, and Trees, plus 4 different combinations of plain colored blocks. Cycle through all of them by pressing the 'D' (display) key.

Choose from 4 ways to display the lighted squares, ranging from almost fully revealing the hidden picture to keeping it completely hidden until the puzzle is complete. Cycle through all by pressing the 'L' (light) key.

Choose from 4 ways to display the light rays, the lines that show the path of the light beams. Possibilities range from seeing the rays for just a few instants of time to seeing them all the time - take your pick.

Choose your favorite light sound. This is the sound you hear when a light is placed. Choose from Whoosh, Moonshine, Tibetan Bowl, and Light Saber.

This is just a sample. There's more - take a look!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I play LunaPix on my new Windows 10 computer?

A. Yes, LunaPix runs fine on Windows 10, as well as on older versions of Windows like WinXP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Q. I've solved a lot of LunaPix puzzles, and I want to make sure that I don't lose my record of solving them if my hard drive crashes or my computer dies. What do I need to save when I do backups?

A. Save the entire Players folder. Your save files, player configuration files and game configuration files are all right there. You'll find it at C:\ Program Files \ KPixGames \LunaPix\ Players.

Q. What's the best way to learn to play LunaPix? I'm not sure what to do, beyond trying to satisfy the clue numbers.

A. Looking at the clues is a great starting point, but eventually you have to look for other kinds of deductions too. Never make random moves (guesses). Instead, start by looking for squares that can only be lit in one way. The simplest such situation is a dark square completely surrounded by blocks. If no lights can shine on that square from outside, then that square must contain a light.

Look especially carefully at squares with Xs or reflectors, that is, squares that must be lit but cannot light themselves. If there is only ONE square where you can place a light to shine on a square with an X or a reflector, then a light MUST go there.

For more examples of deductions that may be useful, look in the Help file in the section called Logic Tips.

Q. I'm impressed with the variety of pictures from all over the world. How many different countries are represented?

A. There are photos from 75 countries plus outer space. Here's the list, in case you are curious: Antarctica, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia Herzogovina, Brazil, Canada, Canary Islands, Chile, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dubai, Ecuador, Egypt, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Montenegro, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands, Ukraine, United States, Viet Nam, Wales.
